Our Mission
While cruising in Mexico and Central America the crew of S/V THIRD DAY will be taking part in Aid and Missionary work to help locals and provide services to fellow cruisers. A portion of our cruising DVD sale proceeds will be used to provide aid to the local schools and churches as well as providing supplies for our ministry to fellow cruisers, including at anchor bible study. As a member of The Gideons International, I will have the unique opportunity to place Gideon New Testament scriptures in cruising libraries along our route.
Your prayers for the crew of S/V THIRD DAY and for our mission are requested. If you would like to get involved in helping us provide funds directly to the local schools and churches in Mexico and Central America or helping to buy New Testament scriptures for distribution, here is your chance. Simply make a donation via the provided PayPal link and 100% of your donation will go to either a local school, church, health clinic, or to buy scriptures, just let us know your preference with your PayPal donation. We will pass along your donation, to those on the ground that have a real need for the funds and then let you know where your donation went and the services it helped provide.
Each day, the crew of S/V THIRD DAY acknowledges how lucky we are in having this opportunity to experience God’s creation in such an up-close and personal way and do our best to be good ambassadors for Christ.
The Name THIRD DAY
When out Cruising it’s common for people to know you and your crew by your boat name, so cruisers often come up with a catchy boat name that has some type of double meaning or some type of reflection of their personality. When we bought our Pearson 365 Ketch, we knew she needed a new name to reflect us. If you have ever been in a VHF radio communication with someone with a 13 syllable boat name, then you know that keeping your boat name short and sweet is important, because you will be saying your boat name at the start and end of every VHF communication and while out cruising the VHF becomes your email, instant messenger, cell phone, and text messenger.
We wanted to come up with a boat name that would acknowledge the reason for our cruise, our lord and savior Jesus Christ. When Lori said she found a name and shared with me the name “THIRD DAY”, I liked it, but thought the reference to the Resurrection was too obvious. She smiled and then shared with me a verse from the Book of Genesis 1:9 through 1:13
::::::And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas; and God saw that it was good...... ......and the evening and the morning were the THIRD DAY::::::.
I was immediately sold on the name and the more I researched I found multiple other unique biblical plays come from the name, which has meaning on many different levels.
